People on Crashline
Auto-text from my iPhone
After the countdown, your iPhone texts your emergency contacts from your own number with your location and a live map. Your contacts come from Crashline, so you never edit the Shortcut. Takes about a minute.
- Turn on iCloud Mail on your iPhone: Settings → your name → iCloud → iCloud Mail.
- Your iCloud email
- Add the Crashline Shortcut.
The team hasn’t shared the Shortcut link yet. Build it with the steps under “Build the Shortcut” below.
- Make it run on its own: Shortcuts → Automation → + → Email.
- Sender: the Crashline email
- Subject Contains:
CRASHLINE SOS - Choose Run Immediately, tap Next, and pick Crashline SOS.
- Test it. This texts your own number, not your contacts. The first time, iOS asks to allow messages, so tap Always Allow.
Build the Shortcut (one person on the team, once)
- Shortcuts → + → name it Crashline SOS. In its settings (ⓘ), turn on Receive input from Emails (or Anything).
- Get Details of Emails → Subject of Shortcut Input.
- Split Text (the Subject) by Spaces, then Get Item from List → Last Item.
- URL:
and add the Item from List variable to the end. Then add Get Contents of URL. - Get Dictionary Value for key
to. Then Repeat with Each item in it, and inside the loop add Send Message. - In Send Message, set the message to the
textvalue (add Get Dictionary Value fortextfrom Contents of URL above the loop) and the recipient to Repeat Item. Tap the arrow and turn off Show When Run. - Share → Copy iCloud Link, put it in
.envasSHORTCUT_URL=, and redeploy. After that, everyone gets the Add Shortcut button.
Permissions
What Crashline can use on this device. Everything except motion is optional.
Crash detection
Crashline weighs impact force and duration, free fall (dropped phone), spinning, tipping over, speed, stillness afterward, and sound into one confidence score.
Detection Lab
Replays recorded sensor data from real-world situations, including look-alikes that must not set off an alarm.
Black box
Motion and GPS from the minute before a crash are always saved, on this phone only, with a tamper-proof fingerprint.
Saved incidents
Automatic trips
Works while Crashline is open (for example, on a phone mount). Websites can’t run in the background, so fully hands-off detection needs the native app on our roadmap. Trips it starts end after 3 minutes stopped.
Your phone
Your car
CarPlay & car Bluetooth: use the automation links in “Your phone” so a drive starts the moment your phone connects to your car.
Read speed from the car Experimental
Plug a Bluetooth LE OBD-II adapter (~$15) into the port under the steering wheel. Chrome on Android or a computer.
Next: a native CarPlay and Android Auto app, and connected-car data (airbag deployment, crash sensors) through automaker and Cox Automotive telematics.
Delete profile
Removes your profile, contacts, alert invites, live alerts, and black-box recordings from this device and the server. If you made an email account, it’s deleted too.
Health apps
Apple Health and Google Health Connect only share data with installed native apps, not websites. The Crashline native app will read your Medical ID (blood type, allergies, conditions) to include in alerts and log post-crash symptoms. For now, add medical notes to your profile.
